Presentation:

Sometimes we tend to do the same thing over and over. That can be positive because maybe we are good at that thing. But sometimes you need to shake things up! Elicitation can be tough. Stakeholders don’t have time for us; there’s too much to do and not enough time.
In this presentation, we’ll discuss how to get out of the elicitation rut. We’ll review some great elicitation techniques and see some ways to get those stakeholders involved.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Know what you need to learn about your business
  • Know where to get that information
  • Review some techniques to get you there

Speaker:

Jacqueline Sanders-Blackman has provided strategic project solutions along with training and mentoring throughout her career in the areas of business analysis, database administration, data analysis and process improvement.  Jacqueline possesses over 30 years’ experience working on projects, using various methodologies and approaches including Agile, Extreme Programming, Waterfall, Object-oriented, UML, Six Sigma and CMMI. She has held roles of business analyst, project manager, program manager, tester, DBA, developer, process analyst and vice president.
Her diverse background made Certified Scrum Master and Agile Coach as well as SAFe Agilist (SA) certification a natural progression. She has spent the last 14 years building up her Agile experience and now has a track record of helping organizations through the challenging transition from Waterfall to Agile practices. Her professional coaching and training abilities give her the perspective to guide Agile leaders and teams. Transforming an organization from Waterfall to Agile is a challenge, but having lived and worked through it in several different environments, it can be successful. Her passion is not just to get teams started on Agile but to help them refine it so that it becomes the competitive advantage it was meant to be. She believes that Agile is more than an alternate software development methodology, it’s a mindset and culture when it’s used to develop people and form high performing teams with the goal of delivering customer value as quickly as possible.
Jacqueline earned her Bachelor’s in Computer Science from Bowling Green State University. She is a published author, contributor to industry-related titles and was recognized as a leader by Women in IT 2013, 2014 and won the BDPA Pacesetter award in 2016.
