Agile approaches such as Scrum and Kanban emphasize the use of self-organizing, self-managing teams.  But does the concept really work?  Can teams really perform efficiently without constant oversight and interference from management? If you’ve ever been on a high-performing team, you know the answer is yes.

For those of you who haven’t had that opportunity, or who may need to convince others in your organization of the value….let’s play a game and experience it firsthand!

Led by Kathy Claycomb, teams of participants will perform simulated work in a series of five iterations, with time provided between iterations for reflection and improvement.  At the end of the activity, participants will clearly understand the key benefits of self-management.

Learning Objective: To understand the key benefits of self-management

  • Allows leadership to emerge from within the team
